Setup guide: TiviMate, IPTV Smarters and M3U

Your login works in any player that accepts an Xtream login or an M3U playlist. These are the three setups we are asked about most.

Short answer

Use the Xtream login (server, username, password) whenever the app offers it: it loads the guide and the film library automatically. Use the M3U link only in players that accept nothing else.

TiviMate setup

  1. Install TiviMate from Google Play, or with Downloader on a Fire TV Stick.
  2. Choose Add playlist, then Xtream Codes.
  3. Enter the server address, username and password exactly as sent in the chat. The server address starts with http:// and usually ends with a port number.
  4. Name the playlist, choose which groups to load, and finish. The guide takes a minute or two the first time.

Some features, including catch-up playback and recording, sit behind TiviMate Premium, a separate purchase from the app's developer. The free version plays live TV.

IPTV Smarters guide

  1. Install IPTV Smarters Pro on Android or Fire TV, or the Smarters player for your platform.
  2. Choose Login with Xtream Codes API.
  3. Enter any name, then the username, password and server address from the chat.
  4. Wait while channels, films and series download, then open Live TV.

Smarters keeps live TV, films and series in separate sections, which some people find easier than TiviMate's single guide. On a TV remote, TiviMate is quicker.

M3U playlist: when and how

An M3U playlist is a text file listing every channel with its stream address. Use it in VLC, in Kodi's IPTV Simple Client, and in players without an Xtream option.

Paste the link into the player. Do not download the file and load it from disk: the list changes, and a saved copy goes stale.

The guide comes as a separate EPG link in XMLTV format, which goes into the player's EPG setting. If your player needs one and it is missing from your message, ask in the chat.

Questions and answers

TiviMate or IPTV Smarters: which is better?

TiviMate on a TV with a remote, because its guide is the quickest to use. Smarters on phones, or when you want films and series in a clearer menu.

Where do I find my M3U link?

In the message with your login details. If it is not there, ask in the chat.

Why is my EPG empty?

On a fresh install the guide needs a minute or two. If it stays empty on an M3U playlist, the player needs the EPG link added separately.

Can I use VLC?

Yes, VLC plays the M3U link on computers and phones. It has no real TV guide, so it suits testing better than daily viewing.
